
President Ferdinand Marcos reiterated the importance of peace and stability in Taiwan and the peaceful settlement of the dispute. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the President emphasized the safety and welfare of the more than 100,000 Filipinos living and working in Taiwan.
The President emphasized that due to the proximity of location, any unrest in Taiwan could affect the Philippines. While the country adheres to the One-China Policy and non-interference in China's internal affairs, it continues to promote dialogue, regional stability, and peaceful resolution of disputes.
China has warned against countries using the Taiwan issue to build up military power in the region. According to them, the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair and any interference will cause more intense tension.
Despite this, Taiwan has assured that it will not surrender or incite trouble, even when faced with a serious threat from its largest neighbor. Meanwhile, according to the US Defense Department, China's extensive military buildup continues, including nuclear, cyber, and space weapons. China's goal is said to dominate the Indo-Pacific and replace the United States as the world's most powerful country.
According to the report, President Xi Jinping has ordered the People’s Liberation Army to be ready to occupy Taiwan by 2027. The United States believes that a stronger alliance can deter aggression and challenge adversaries.
