The sacrifice of a 17-year-old boy was the talk of the town after he drowned in the sea in Brgy. Dumoy, Davao City, Saturday. He was with his aunt and cousins on an outing when they saw the two children almost drown.
Ryxcel Galos immediately rushed to the rescue of the children even though he was not familiar with them, according to his mother, Jaciel Galos. He successfully rescued them, but he never made it back to shore.
The coast guard, Central 911, police Maritime Group, and Dumoy's Barangay Disaster Team conducted a search. After a few days, his body was found at the fish port of Toril on Monday.
The victim's family thanked everyone who helped, especially the fisherman who found the teenager's body. According to the mother, "My son is a hero for saving me, but you are a hero too," she told the fisherman.
Ryxcel's heroism is proof that he is willing to sacrifice for others. Because of his heroism, two children are safe today.
