A 35-year-old Filipino tourist died after being hit by a taxi in Tsuen Wan West, Hong Kong on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Consulate General.
An 11-second video circulated on local media showing a taxi suddenly crashing into and running over the victim as he was leaving the hotel with his luggage.
According to the report, the 80-year-old taxi driver felt dizzy and lost control of the vehicle. The driver is currently in police custody while the victim's remains are at the Kwai Chung Public Mortuary.
The Philippine Consulate is coordinating with the victim's family and local authorities for the investigation. According to the DFA, the family will arrive in Hong Kong to arrange for the repatriation of the remains.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and pray for his soul," the DFA said.
