The body of an 8-year-old girl was found in a vacant lot in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City on Sunday afternoon. According to officials, residents discovered the victim's naked body.
Investigation revealed that the child was last seen alive at around 2:34 p.m. on Saturday while walking with a 13-year-old boy identified as the suspect. In the suspect's statement, he admitted to strangling the child until he lost consciousness and then carrying out his plan.
However, officials doubt that the teenager committed the crime alone due to the condition of the area and the presence of a locked gate. The suspect also mentioned that he was with a 19-year-old man before the incident and that someone allegedly threatened him. Police are currently investigating the alleged accomplice and another person mentioned by the teenager.
The 13-year-old suspect is now in police custody while the search for the others involved continues. The Quezon City local government promised to ensure justice for the victim's family and provide them with assistance through the Social Services Development Department (SSDD).
