Isle of Man TT 2024 Senior TT winner Davey Todd will compete in the Suzuka 8 Hours this weekend as part of the AutoRace Ube Racing team.
Todd was selected after auditioning against Portuguese rider Ivo Lopes to replace the injured Hannes Soomer. After a test run at Suzuka, the team announced that Todd had been chosen.
He will be joined on the track by Loris Baz, a former MotoGP and WorldSBK rider, and Japanese rider Naomichi Uramoto. They will be using the BMW M1000 RR for the race. According to the team, despite the difficult situation, they are still aiming for a podium finish.
This year, Todd won the Superbike race at the Isle of Man TT and also topped two Superbike races and the Superstock race at the North West 200. In total, 55 teams will participate in the Suzuka 8 Hours this year, up from 46 in 2024.
Todd will also be joined in Japan by some big names from MotoGP and WorldSBK such as Jack Miller, Johann Zarco, Andrea Locatelli, and Michael van der Mark. There will also be other British riders taking part such as Josh Brookes and Leon Haslam. The 46th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours will be held from August 1 to 3.
