The PNP has arrested an online seller with 11 text blasters from former POGO companies in Taguig. According to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, the 36-year-old man was caught in an entrapment operation on July 20 after trying to sell the units for ₱25,000 each.
Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said that it is prohibited to sell and own such text blaster machines because they are not approved by the NTC. He added that they are often used in text scams, where links are sent to obtain the victim's personal data, bank accounts, and credit card info.
Investigations revealed that the suspect's job was buy-and-sell and that he obtained the devices from closed POGO offices. The suspect is now in the custody of the Taguig Police and may face charges under the Philippine Radio Control Law and Cybercrime Prevention Act. According to the PNP, 17 people have been caught this year selling text blasters and signal jammers online.
