More than 200 people in Cebu City were evacuated after heavy flooding on the night of July 16, 2025. According to the Cebu City Social Welfare Services, Barangay Cogon Pardo was the most affected. Up to 62 families or 263 individuals were affected from 54 households.
The local government immediately provided first aid and food while the assessment was being conducted. According to Portia Basmayor, head of the office, monitoring of those affected is ongoing.
Although the floodwaters have subsided on some roads, face-to-face classes are still suspended due to the continuous rain. Mayor Nestor Archival has directed schools to use asynchronous or modular learning for the safety of all.
Cebu City is not the only one to cancel classes. It also includes some towns such as Daanbantayan, Santa Fe, Samboan, Medellin, Alcoy, Tabogon, Bogo City, Santander, San Remigio, Minglanilla, and Malabuyoc.
In Central Visayas, sea travel has also been canceled. According to the Philippine Coast Guard, boats with 15 gross tonnage and below have been temporarily suspended from sailing in Western Bohol, and 35 gross tonnage and below in Northern Cebu. PAGASA-Visayas warned that heavy rains and winds caused by Tropical Depression Crising will continue.
