A woman in General Santos got stuck in a drainage canal while searching for food. According to reports, the 23-year-old woman from Cotabato first swam in the sea before entering the mouth of the canal along Bula-Lagao Road. She crawled for almost 300 meters inside the canal before she was found.
A tricycle driver noticed what looked like a hand emerging from the canal. When he looked, he saw a woman begging for help, so he immediately called for help.
Barangay officials, firefighters, and disaster response teams responded. They used a metal bar to remove the concrete cover of the canal and rescued the woman, who was thought to be a child.
He was given a breathing apparatus after being in the canal for a long time. He was also immediately given first aid before being taken to the hospital.
He did not suffer any injuries and is currently in good condition.
