The heavy traffic was caused by a series of accidents involving three trucks on the EDSA Northbound lane, at the Quezon Avenue Flyover, early Wednesday morning. Two people were slightly injured in the incident.
Around 3 a.m., a dump truck plowed through the barriers, causing one of its front wheels to come off. Some of the barriers were crushed under the truck and others fell onto the road. According to the MMDA, the truck hit 14 concrete barriers, 3 plastic barriers, and 1 signage.
The truck was delivering sand in Taguig and was returning to Porac, Pampanga when the incident occurred. The driver explained that he fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle he was driving. The driver will be booked for reckless driving and the MMDA will impound the vehicle.
30 minutes later, another dump truck crashed into another truck on the Quezon Avenue flyover. The windshield of the dump truck, which was coming from Sta. Rosa, Laguna and was returning to Pampanga, was shattered. The driver and his assistant were slightly injured. The truck that was hit was carrying thirty-five motorcycles that were to be delivered to Bulacan.
