The family of victim Tirso "Jun" Lontok is deeply disappointed after the acquittal of Police Colonel Hansel Marantan and eleven police officers charged in the Atimonan incident in 2013.
In a Facebook post, Maria Bella Lontok Evangelista, Jun's sister, shared that they were once again sadden by the court's decision. For them, this is clear proof of the lack of justice in the country.
After a long wait, the family said they would no longer waste time appealing to government agencies. Instead, they would rely on God for true justice.
Lontok is a well-known environmentalist from Dolores, Quezon. He was actively involved in the conservation of Mount Banahaw before the incident.
