P1.5 billion worth of shabu was found floating in the waters off the coast of Masinloc, Zambales. According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), it weighed an estimated 222.65 kilograms, vacuum-sealed in 223 plastic bags and placed in 10 sacks.
Fishermen from Bataan discovered the bags on May 29 while they were sailing in West Bajo de Masinloc. They thought the bags were food or supplies so they brought them to their boat. Upon opening them, they discovered the suspected shabu.
PDEA Chief Isagani Nerez commended the fishermen for their honesty in reporting what they saw. He ordered an immediate investigation to catch those responsible for dumping the drugs into the sea. The drugs are currently being analyzed by PDEA for further action.
