A pregnant nurse died after being hit by two vehicles while she crossed the pedestrian lane on the National Highway, Barangay Taloc, Bago City, on June 1, 2025 at around 9:15 p.m..
The victim was identified as Maria Angela Buendia, 36 years old, a resident of Purok Proper North, Barangay Taloc. According to a report by the Bago City PNP, Buendia was crossing the street when she was accidentally hit by a red Toyota Avanza driven by Philip Jansen Cantiller, 30 years old from Bacolod City.
Due to the force of the impact, the victim was thrown into the other lane, where he was run over by a Toyota Yaris driven by Salvador Castro, 59 years old from Pulupandan. Due to the severity of the accident, her 6-month-old baby was ejected from her womb.
Buendia was declared dead on arrival at Bago City Hospital. Investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine if the drivers involved are responsible.
