29-year-old Fiamma Villaverde was hit by the ceiling while watching Final Destination: Bloodlines at Cinema Ocho, La Plata, Argentina on May 19. She was with her 11-year-old son and a friend to celebrate her birthday.
They didn't plan to watch a movie but because the tickets were cheaper, they thought they would give it a try. As the movie was ending, a piece of the ceiling suddenly fell from Cinema 4 and hit Villaverde. They thought it was just part of the movie but the sound was loud and the fall was huge.
Instead of waiting for help, he went straight to the ticket booth and asked for a refund. He said, "What if my child was hit in the head? They're so irresponsible!" He suffered bruises and back pain so he had an X-ray. According to Villaverde, his anxiety and panic attacks also worsened because of the incident.
Many social media users joked that it was a “5D experience” and that it felt like he had become part of the movie. According to witnesses, heavy rains in the area were the possible cause of the ceiling collapse.
The movie theater has yet to issue regarding the incident. Final Destination: Bloodlines is the latest film in the popular horror series after 14 years.
