The New Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service or BUCAS was ordered to operate 24/7 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure that there is medical service for everyone, anytime.
The president made this statement during the inauguration of the Region 1 Medical Center Cancer Institute in Dagupan City. According to him, disease knows no time, so health centers must always be ready.
Currently, there are three BUCAS centers open in the Ilocos region. They offer minor surgeries, vaccinations for children and adults, dental services, and more.
Based on the record, more than 800,000 Filipinos have been served by BUCAS centers, especially those in remote areas that have difficulty accessing hospitals.
The 24/7 operation aims to accelerate and expand government assistance to those in need of immediate medical attention.
