
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook Davao del Norte before noon this Monday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at around 11:41 a.m., was located 4 kilometers southeast of the town of Santo Tomas at a depth of 32 kilometers.
No major damage to property is expected, but Phivolcs warned of the possibility of aftershocks. Aftershocks of up to magnitude 4.2 could be felt in the coming days or weeks, said Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded in various locations such as:
Intensity III in San Fernando (Bukidnon), Magpet, Kidapawan City (Cotabato), and Gingoog City (Misamis Oriental)
Intensity II in M'lang (Cotabato), Matanao (Davao del Sur), and Nabunturan (Davao de Oro)
Intensity I in Kalilangan, Libona, Malitbog (Bukidnon), Magsaysay, Davao City (Davao del Sur), and Balingasag, Initao (Misamis Oriental)
The instrumental intensity is based on readings from Phivolcs intensity meters, and may or may not be felt by residents depending on the area.
