The two men were rescued from a violent hazing in Noveleta, Cavite. It was dubbed the “30-Second Massacre”, where the victims were beaten by several members of the group for 30 seconds. In the video, one victim is seen being punched and kicked as the men surround him.
According to Police Major Sandie Caparroso of the Noveleta Police, this is done as part of the initiation rites for new members. Police found 50 people in a yard in Barangay San Rafael Tres. They said it was just a simple “baptism,” but the police discovered that it was hazing.
Ten people, including four minors, were arrested. The six adults were charged under the Anti-Hazing Law. They said their group's sole purpose was to community service such as a feeding program, and they were not doing anything wrong.
The minors were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. The two victims are currently recovering. The police are working with barangays and schools to prevent the recruitment of youth into this group.
