
Mt. Kanlaon erupted again today, May 13, 2025, at exactly 02:55 AM, causing a moderate explosion at the volcano's summit crater. It lasted for five minutes and spewed a thick ash plume that reached 480 kilometers into the air.
A loud explosion was heard in the areas of Barangay Pula, Canlaon City in Negros Oriental and La Castellana, Negros Occidental. pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) were also seen descending south of the volcano and causing vegetation to burn. Large rocks were also thrown around the volcano's crater.
Alert Level 3 remains, meaning there is still a risk of further eruptions. Evacuation is recommended within a 6-km radius of the crater. Residents are advised to use respiratory protection and take precautions, especially local governments and civil aviation authorities.
