Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has expressed support for the establishment of permanent evacuation centers, especially in disaster-prone areas. During a motorcade in Cainta, Rizal, Go said that infrastructure projects that can be used by people in times of crisis are important.
According to Go, we must work together to address long-term solutions in the flood-prone areas of the country. One of the main projects that Go is championing is flood control projects that will help communities that are frequently affected by floods.
Go is the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 12076, or Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which provides for the establishment of permanent, clean, and safe evacuation centers in every city and municipality in the Philippines. According to Go, this is very important for areas that are often hit by floods, such as Cainta, Taytay, and Marikina City.
Go also filed Senate Bill No. 192, which seeks to provide a Rental Housing Subsidy Program for disaster victims in need of temporary shelter. It also includes SBN 188 or the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR) Act, which seeks to establish an agency that will focus on the country's national disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
