French motorcycle maker Midual has released news about their latest model called the “Française.” This model is ultra-exclusive, limited to only five units worldwide. Although there is no official price, it is estimated to reach more than PHP 20.8 million based on reports from abroad.
The Française is based on the Type 1 Series 3, and features a unique 1,036cc liquid-cooled boxer engine. Unlike traditional BMW-style engines, its cylinders face forward and backward, giving it a unique design and performance. It has an output of 101 PS and 102 Nm torque, which is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.
The engine is housed in a double-walled aluminum monocoque that serves as fuel tank and bodywork at the same time. It is a rare, self-supporting structure made in one piece, a feature that demonstrates Midual's fine-mechanical craftsmanship.
For the suspension, Öhlins components are used at the front and rear, while Brembo calipers handle braking. The bike has tubeless spoked wheels, weighs 219 kg dry, and has near-even weight distribution front and rear. It can reach a top speed of more than 200 km/h.
With a price tag of approximately PHP 20.8 million before taxes and shipping, it's clear that the Française is for the few with the means. However, for those with the means, owning one of the most valuable hand-built motorcycles in the world can be an experience worth every penny.
