
A major fire broke out in a residential area in Davao City early Tuesday morning, causing widespread damage to the community. Initial reports indicate that 65 houses were affected, prompting many residents to evacuate and seek immediate assistance.
Due to the close proximity of houses and the use of light materials, the fire spread quickly. Many families woke up amidst thick smoke and fire, and quickly evacuated those they could carry, although most had little to no property salvaged.
Despite the damage, firefighters were able to rescue several pets from burning homes. Pet owners expressed their heartfelt gratitude, as their pets were safely rescued amidst the dangerous situation.
An estimated 75 families or over 500 individuals were affected by the incident. Of the total, 50 houses were completely destroyed while 15 were slightly damaged, creating a need for temporary shelter and basic supplies.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, while some families affected by the fire are staying in evacuation centers. Residents are hoping for immediate assistance and rehabilitation to recover from this tragedy and start anew.
