Improved weather seen as Ada moves away

Large parts of the country are expected to experience better weather conditions today as Tropical Depression Ada continues to move away, according to the latest advisory from PAGASA. With the removal of the bad weather, clearer skies are expected in many areas.

Ada's center was located east of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kph. It is expected to continue moving northeastward and weaken into a low-pressure area in the coming hours.

According to weather specialists, the new northeast monsoon gust is bringing drier air that is helping to weaken the typhoon. However, the Ada trough may still cause cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in some parts of the Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, the amihan continues to affect Northern Luzon. The Cordillera and Cagayan Valley may experience light rains, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected in the Ilocos Region and some provinces in Central Luzon. Metro Manila and other parts of the country may experience generally fair weather with brief rains.

Although no gale warning has been issued, authorities have warned of moderate to strong winds along some coastal areas, particularly in Northern and Central Luzon and the eastern part of the Visayas. Fishermen and seafarers are advised to remain cautious and alert as the storm's effects finally subside.
