A 35-year-old man was sent back to jail after allegedly snatching a cellphone inside a cafeteria in Quezon City. According to reports, the victim was busy using his phone when the suspect suddenly snatched it in the middle of a crowded area.
After the incident, the suspect quickly fled on a motorcycle driven by his accomplice. As he fled, he did not realize he had dropped his ID, which later became important evidence for his identification.
Using a phone tracker app, the victim was able to track the location of his missing cellphone via his laptop. This information matched the address on the ID, prompting immediate action by authorities.
During the arrest, a cellphone was recovered and an improvised firearm was also confiscated from the suspect's residence. It was also learned that he has a previous record of illegal possession of firearms, theft, and illegal drugs.
The police remind the public to be careful when using cellphones, especially in crowded areas. The follow-up operation is also continuing to arrest the suspect's accomplice who served as the driver in the crime.
