Anne Hathaway will return to television as the star and executive producer of the new six-episode limited series Fear Not, which will premiere on Paramount+ in 2027. This will be her first TV project since WeCrashed in 2022. The series is based on a true crime story written by Julie Miller for Vanity Fair, which explores the fascinating spiritual connection between a serial killer that of Stephen Morin and his last captive, Margy Palm.
In the series, Hathaway will play the role of Margy Palm, who despite her terrifying experience in captivity, finds strength in faith, courage, and compassion. According to the show's official logline, Palm's dedication to her faith and belief that Morin could change shaped a relationship that lasted even after her release and until Morin's execution.
The adaptation is directed by Bash Doran (Boardwalk Empire, Outlaw King) and focuses on the true story of how Palm's experience in captivity led to a unique relationship filled with compassion and prayer. According to Jane Wiseman, head of originals at Paramount+, “By bringing this harrowing story closer to our protagonist's experience, Anne brings a depth and weight that only an actress of her caliber can bring to the screen.”
The series is being produced by MGM Television and has a strong team of executive producers including Hathaway, Helen Estabrook of Vanity Fair Studios, and Palm's own family. The project is also part of Hathaway's busy schedule this year, which includes five upcoming films including The Devil Wears Prada 2, A24's Mother Mary, and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
Fear Not is expected to provide a unique experience for viewers by combining true crime and spiritual storytelling, emphasizing the power of faith and courage in the face of tragedy. For fans of Hathaway and true crime, this is a series not to be missed in 2027 on Paramount+.
