President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the approval of a PhilHealth general amnesty for companies and individuals who have not paid their contributions. The move aims to give employers and self-employed a one-year grace period to settle their obligations without additional interest for the year 2026.
According to the President, the government recognizes the burden of contributions on citizens, especially in the business sector. Under the announcement, delayed premiums from 2013 to 2024 can be paid, which is expected to benefit approximately 300,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
At the same time, employers are encouraged to update their information and register employees in the YAKAP program, a PhilHealth initiative that provides basic laboratory services and selected medications. This move is part of the government's broader goal to expand access to health services and ensure that more Filipinos are covered.
