Thousands of devotees gathered in Quiapo to witness the traditional Pabihis of Jesus Nazareno, an important pre-festival ritual. Amidst the throng, the fervent prayers and thanksgiving of the faithful, who continue to rely on the strength of faith despite personal trials in life, prevailed.
The pabihis, or changing of the sacred image's garments, was performed with solemnity and order. The altar was temporarily covered while prayers were said, and when the veil was removed, devotees caught a glimpse of the Nazarene in his new garments. Some were also given the opportunity to touch the garment used as a symbol of devotion and hope.
The church leadership explained that the ritual is not just for the festival but part of the regular routine for the cleanliness and respect of the image. Due to the large number of people kissing and touching, proper care is important as part of responsible faith.
As the Traslacion 2026 approaches, the church and local government issued a reminder regarding safety and discipline. Road hazards, including alcohol and fireworks, were banned, and parents were urged to keep a close eye on their children to avoid accidents.
Authorities emphasized that true devotion is accompanied by order and concern for others. Through the cooperation of the church, government, and devotees, the celebration aims to show that faith is manifested not only in prayer, but also in responsible action as citizens.
