An MMDA enforcer and a driver were injured after a gunfight during an anti-colorum operation in Barangay Ayala-Alabang, Muntinlupa on Wednesday.
According to the NCRPO, enforcer Mark Anthony Piopongco, 36, stopped a white van at the Filinvest Exit of Acacia Avenue at 9 a.m. The 48-year-old driver apologized and asked to pull over so that the senior citizen passenger could get off. As the passengers were getting off, the driver suddenly pulled out a gun and they struggled, causing both to be shot in the thigh.
The Ayala Police Sub Station immediately responded and confiscated the driver's .45 caliber gun. According to MMDA Chairman Romando Artes, they will provide medical, financial, and legal support to the victim. Charges and administrative action will also be filed against the driver while his van will be impounded.
