Nike and Chipotle have teamed up to create an exclusive Air Force 1 for Oli Fasone-Lancaster, a young designer from the Doernbecher Freestyle Program. The shoes were specially made for him and will not be sold to the public.
The design was inspired by Oli's favorite Chipotle meal, which he always ate after each treatment session. It was a way to ease the pain of the difficult treatment he went through.
The shoe features metallic silver details that resemble a burrito bowl, green Swoosh symbolizing guacamole, and Chipotle logos on the tongue and heel. The inner tongue also features Oli's correct food order, while the heel tab reads “Oli’s Order #572,” in memory of the 572 laps he walked to the hospital.
There is also a special message “Chipotle Is My Life” on the outsole, and even the packaging is made to look like a Chipotle burrito bowl with a Nike twist.
Although this model will not be sold, Nike will release the Doernbecher x Air Force 1, an original design by Oli, this winter as part of the Doernbecher Freestyle 21 Collection.
