
A man has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a car bomb in Delhi, India that killed eight people and injured 20 others.
According to the NIA, the vehicle used in the attack was registered in the name of the suspect and is believed to be linked to a suicide bomber. The suspect lives in Indian-administered Kashmir.
The car exploded near Red Fort Metro Station, one of Delhi's most famous landmarks, at around 6:52 pm (local time). Footage showed the charred remains of a white car and damaged vehicles, including an autorickshaw and a cycle rickshaw.
The NIA also seized another vehicle belonging to the bomber and questioned 73 witnesses, including the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to hold the suspect and his accomplices accountable.
Police are continuing to investigate the possible connection between the incident and the previous arrest of seven men in Kashmir and the seizure of 2,900kg of explosives in a Delhi suburb.
