Early Monday morning, November 10. Two children died while three were injured.
Cagayan Valley police reported that the accident occurred around 2 a.m. while the Paulino family was sleeping in their house. The concrete wall collapsed due to a landslide.
The deceased were listed as 5-year-old twins, declared dead on arrival at the Lt. Tidang Memorial Hospital. Their parents, Victor Paulino, 39, and Coleene Paulino, 40, as well as their 8-year-old daughter, were injured.
The landslide was reported to the police at around 3:30 a.m., prompting the Kayapa Police Station and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to immediately respond. Rescue efforts were hampered by road blockages and falling debris.
Barangay Balangabang Chairman Fidel Dino and residents helped take the victims to the hospital.
