The popular K-drama Itaewon Class will have a remake here in the Philippines. It has been confirmed that the adaptation rights for the Philippine and Vietnamese versions have been sold.
Itaewon Class is about an ex-con who opens a street bar in Itaewon while trying to get revenge on the family responsible for his father's death. It was led by Park Seo-joon and received many awards such as Best Drama Series at the Asian Television Awards and Best Mini Series at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
Many Filipino fans were happy and immediately reacted online. One netizen commented, “The scene where she cries for her father is so awesome. I hope the lead in the PH remake is just as emotional so viewers can be carried away.”
In a 2020 vlog, Park Seo-joon shared that the series had a big impact on him. He said, “Saeroyi’s lines made me reflect on life — about beliefs, honesty, and values.” He added that, like the character, he was also a dreamer and now his dream of becoming an actor has come true.
