The tragedy occurred in Brgy. Pagsanghan, Banga, Aklan at around 5 p.m. where brothers Jonel Tamayo and Jomer Tamayo, both residents of Cortes, Balete, died.
It was learned that they were removing a transmission of a 12-wheeler truck when suddenly the hydraulic pump supply exploded. As a result, the backhoe operator lost control of the machine and the bucket fell on the brothers.
The two were declared dead-on-the-spot. According to PCapt. Dandy Gonzalodo, chief of the Banga Police Station, the backhoe operator may face charges for the incident.
The police investigation is ongoing to determine the full details of the accident and whether the operator is responsible.
