A motorcycle rider known as “Raymond”, 33 years old from Brgy. Laiban, Tanay, Rizal died after being swept away by strong floodwaters while trying to cross a river in Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City on Monday afternoon.
According to the police report, Raymond was allegedly hired by “Mike”, 25, to collect payments from members of a microfinance group. As they waded through thigh-deep floodwaters, the motorcycle stalled in the middle of the floodwaters, forcing them to get off. As they got off, the water suddenly surged and swept them both away.
Mike was rescued with the help of residents, but Raymond could not be saved. After a while, responders from the barangay also found him, but he was no longer alive when he was taken to Cabading Hospital.
