Whistleblower Julie Patidongan or better known as ‘Totoy’ will submit an affidavit today to the National Police Commission (Napolcom). In her statement, she will name 15 police officers who were allegedly involved in the disappearance of several sabungeros. According to Napolcom Vice Chairman Rafael Calinisan, this will be a great help in starting the investigation.
The people have been waiting for justice for a long time. Calinisan said that four years have passed since the issue broke out, so this new evidence is very important. Although the first case to be filed is administrative, there is also a possibility of criminal charges being filed depending on the evidence that is released.
Some of the named police officers hold high positions in the PNP, the statement added. Calinisan added that if they are innocent, they should be acquitted. But if proven guilty, they should be held accountable to the law.
The investigation is expected to be completed within two months. If the crime is proven, the police officers involved may be suspended or dismissed from service. It was also clarified that the investigation only covers active police officers, and retirees are no longer covered.
Napolcom ensured a fair process for all. This action aims to provide clarity and justice to a long-standing issue that has troubled the public.
