A transport company has called on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to ban noisy passengers inside Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs). According to Ritchie Manuel, senior consultant of Metrolink Bus Company, this is after a Person with Disability (PWD) went missing inside the bus while traveling along EDSA-Guadalupe recently.
Manuel said that this PWD has long been known on the EDSA Busway to be uncomfortable in noisy environments. It is possible that a child playing with his cellphone was the trigger of the incident. Because of this, he insisted that it is time to have policies to keep passengers' trips quiet.
Manuel also asked relatives of PWDs to accompany them whenever they leave the house, especially when using public transportation. He said this would help prevent chaos and protect the PWD's situation.
He added, Metrolink is open to providing training to staff on how to deal with this type of situation in the future. This is a step to maintain order and security on public transport.
