The Land Transportation Office (LTO) led by Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II released a report on the arrest of a woman involved in a fake ID scam by the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).
The suspect, 29 years old, was caught in Valenzuela City while offering fake driver’s license and PWD ID on social media. PWD ID is commonly used to get 20% discount on products and services, which is why many are being duped.
A cellphone, a fake PWD ID, and two fake driver's licenses with a fake Official Receipt (OR) were seized from him.
The operation was a joint action of the PNP-ACG, Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), and LTO. Cases are being prepared against the suspect.
Authorities have advised the public to beware of online scams and not to simply trust ID offers on social media.
