
A 66-year-old grandmother was hit by a truck while crossing F. Parcon Street, Pototan, Iloilo, on Tuesday. She was on her way home from buying fast food for her granddaughter who is graduating from elementary school.
Before the accident, the grandmother left her grandson in the parlor so he could prepare for graduation. As he was crossing the pedestrian lane, the truck suddenly came and he was hit.
According to the driver, he did not notice the grandmother while crossing the road. He only stopped when he heard people shouting around him.
The victim sustained deep wounds to his body and broken legs. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
The truck driver is in police custody. The entire community sympathizes with the grandmother's family who were supposed to be celebrating their grandson's graduation. The fast food meal that was supposed to cost around ₱300 turned out to be her last offering to her beloved grandson.
