The Chinese Embassy has issued a warning for Chinese citizens in the Philippines and those planning to visit. They said they should be extra careful due to the unstable public security situation in the country.

According to an advisory on their website, there has been an increase in political rallies in various parts of the Philippines. There have also been complaints that Chinese nationals and businesses are being interrogated or harassed by local law enforcement.

The embassy also said that Chinese people should be alert to the security situation around them. They should avoid unnecessary outings, and also avoid crowded places and political events to avoid being harassed.

They were also reminded to comply with local laws and that if anyone plans to travel to the Philippines, they need to risk assessment and careful travel decisions.

The embassy added that in case of an emergency, one can ask for help from the police or contact the Chinese Embassy and Consulate General here in the Philippines. It was also mentioned that in January, some Chinese were caught allegedly voyeurism in government areas, so the authorities became more alert.
