According to a report by TV5’s Frontline Pilipinas, a dashcam video captured the incident in Brgy. Tabunok on March 25. The video shows the suspect getting nervous, pretending to be talking on the phone, and then pointing the gun at him, saying, “This is a holdup, boss. Sorry, boss, I only want money if you don’t want to die.”
After the crime, the suspect immediately got out of the taxi and fled with the money. Authorities are now after him. Meanwhile, the taxi driver has not been able to work due to the trauma. “I was really scared. The gun pointed at me was no joke. I have children, they are still small,” he said in the interview.
Many netizens were surprised and laughed at the holdaper who sorryed before stealing. “Haha, still sorry,” one netizen commented. According to the law, the suspect can be charged with robbery because he used a gun, intimidation, and force to steal the taxi driver's money. Depending on the severity of the violence, he could be imprisoned for 12 to 40 years under reclusion perpetua or reclusion temporal.
