Goldenier Dagal, a stand-up comedian, was killed after receiving threats from those offended by his dark humor, according to his mother.
Dagal, 38-year-old, was shot by three unidentified assailants inside a bar in Angeles City on Saturday, based on initial police reports. The suspects fled immediately after the incident.
""My son is gone. A hired killer took his life and made sure he wouldn't survive," said Jocelyn Cruz, Dagal's mother."
According to Cruz, there have been people threatening Dagal's life for a long time after being offended by his jokes during a stand-up comedy show.
"I always reminded him that making dark humor could offend others. But some who thought they were closest to God planned and committed this crime," Cruz wrote in a Facebook post.
He added,
"Cowards who are unable to defend themselves and the faith that my son questioned through his dark humor."
Cruz also shared that Dagal once said he wanted to create a space where people could discuss sensitive topics in a safe environment.
He described Dagal as a good son and loving brother.
"Although his life was short, it was meaningful because he was always ready to help. He always showed his love for me and his three sisters," said Cruz.
