The 6th Marine Company of Marine Battalion Landing Team 2, along with the 65th Force Reconnaissance Company and Force Reconnaissance Group, were conducting patrol in Sitio Palao, Barangay Barira when they encountered a group led by an alias "Alpha King".
The clash lasted five minutes, during which four Dawlah Islamiyah members were killed. No injuries or deaths were reported on the government side.
According to the military, three of the dead have been identified and taken in by their relatives.
Lt. Col. Roden Orbon, spokesperson for the 6th Infantry Division, said they recovered weapons and military equipment from the group.
Soldiers are continuing clearing operations and are preparing for possible retaliation from the remaining members of the group.
