PNP-ACG Strengthens Campaign Against Online Sale of Fireworks

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) intensified its campaign against the online sale of fireworks, with 115 social media pages deleted, including Facebook and X accounts. Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang that the sale of fireworks online, whether legal or illegal, is prohibited. From November 20, the ACG confiscated various fireworks worth ₱76,400 and arrested the suspects involved in the online transactions.

Curbing Illegal Tutorials and Injuries Caused by Fireworks

The PNP also targeted online tutorials on making boga, an outlawed improvised cannon linked to many injuries. According to the Department of Health (DOH), boga is among the main causes of injuries caused by firecrackers, which has reached 69 cases nationwide this holiday season. Most of the victims were young men, and many used illegal fireworks. The DOH continues to warn about the health hazards of fireworks, including burns, blindness, and respiratory damage due to the toxic chemical.

Strict Fireworks Regulations in Localities

In Bolinao, Pangasinan, a total ban on fireworks was implemented under Executive Order 70, which prohibits the manufacture, sale, and use of fireworks in the municipality. Fireworks will be confiscated and violators will be punished. Meanwhile, in Bulacan, the use of legal fireworks is allowed in 46 community firecracker zones, in accordance with the guidelines of Executive Order 28.
