Louis Vuitton announces the Nostalgic Takashi Murakami Re-Edition Collection

Louis Vuitton announced on Instagram a major release for the beginning of 2025. Celebrating two decades since their iconic collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, the luxury French fashion house will launch a nostalgic re-edition collection of their collaboration .

While little is known about the release, Instagram showed off a short teaser clip of what fans can expect. It features Murakami's iconic colorful floral motifs as well as his bear, combined with the classic LV monogram. It looks like they'll be preparing a big re-release of some of the collaboration's most popular pieces. From bags to accessories, the possibilities are endless.

When the collaboration first launched on Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2003 runway, former LV creative director Marc Jacobs set a new standard for fashion collaborations in the 2000s. That era featured logoed LV bags filled with kelly green, turquoise, yellow, and hot pink, as well as monogramouflage and cherry blossoms, with Murakami displaying his cartoon-style artwork on signature pieces of the brand.

This collaboration brought LV attention in the mainstream media and is considered one of the most memorable collaborations to date. Currently, some of its pieces are sold in auction houses and are viewed as valuable pieces with high prices.

According to Marc Jacobs in 2009, "Our collaboration has produced many works, and has been a great influence and inspiration to many. It is a monumental fusion of art and business. The ultimate crossover – one that can be seen both in the history of fashion and art."

The LV x Takashi Murakami re-edition collaborative collection will launch on January 1, 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
