Action Bronson and New Balance are beginning a new chapter focused on performance with their collaboration, unveiling the “Baklava Performance Collection,” Bronsolino’s first non-lifestyle footwear and apparel offerings. Consisting of two shoes — the FuelCell Rebel V4 “Foxtrot” and M10 Minimus Trail “Pluto” — along with collaborative apparel, the offerings feature brightly colored versions of some of New Balance’s core performance products, with a little bit of the whimsy that has made Bronson’s past collaborations famous.
The FuelCell Rebel V4, a lightweight road running shoe, is
uses earth tones like brown and gray, accented with bright orange, blue, green, and red. Meanwhile, the M10 Minimus Trail, a minimalistic off-road running shoe (which drew some mocking comments when it was first unveiled due to the contrast between its slim silhouette and Bronson's muscular legs) uses primarily various shades of blue and gray. The apparel, made in color-coordinated hues, includes jackets, shorts, socks, and more.
“Performance is part of my lifestyle. I train every day to be a better person for whatever obstacles come my way, to overcome them mentally, physically, and emotionally,” Bronson says of the collaboration. “It’s important to me to have the right grip on the ground, to have a solid footing on the world. I made these shoes because I really perform. I need them. I need them to practice. I need them to run. Yes, they look amazing, but it’s all about the performance.”
