The 2026 Lexus IS Sports Sedan has arrived earlier than expected, after it was confirmed that two new sedans will be launched for the brand this year. These include the all-new Lexus ES and the substantially upgraded Lexus IS, reflecting Lexus' aggressive move into the premium sedan segment.
The clearest sign of its arrival is the recognition of the Lexus IS 300h as a hybrid model, which will be released in two versions: IS 300h Executive and IS 300h Premier. Both will use a 2.5-liter hybrid engine with a total of 221 horsepower, supported by a E-CVT gearbox for a more refined and efficient ride. The IS 350 is also expected to remain as the flagship variant with a 3.5-liter V6 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission.
For 2026, the driving experience is enhanced with recalibrated electric power steering with Variable Gear Ratio, which provides more linear and smoother steering in various road conditions. This is accompanied by an upgraded Adaptive Variable Suspension, which now has faster damping response for more stable handling and less jolting from potholes and uneven roads.
In terms of exterior design, the new Lexus IS has slightly lengthened its body while maintaining its width and height. The new spindle grille with integrated brake ducts stands out at the front, while at the rear the logo has been replaced with LEXUS script for a more modern look. The F Sport variant, on the other hand, has a new rear spoiler that helps with better downforce.
Inside, the premium feel is expected to remain with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, digital gauge cluster, and wireless charging as part of the standard upgrades. There's also ambient lighting with 14 colors, more USB Type-C ports, and a high-quality audio system depending on the variant. Overall, the 2026 Lexus IS is clearly designed to combine performance, technology, and luxury in an elegant sports sedan.
