DPWH to blacklist 60 contractors in corruption scandal

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is ready to blacklist up to 60 contractors due to widespread infrastructure corruption in the country.

In 2025, the theft of billions of pesos through a kickback scheme involving officials, legislators, and contractors was called the biggest scandal in the administration. Public funds allegedly went to fake flood control projects.

As a step to clean up the agency, the DPWH announced that there are 60 contractors that could be placed on the blacklist. According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the aim of this step is to weed out the corrupt and give a chance to honest contractors.

At the same time, the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board is also processing blacklisting for 16 contractors involved in the scandal. Four contractors have also had their licenses revoked.

Despite these steps, the Palace assured that infrastructure development in the country will continue. “Contractors need not fear because all those who do their jobs properly will be paid,” Castro added.
