Former Bulacan First District Assistant Engineer Brice Hernandez, together with Engr. Jaypee Mendoza and Christina Pineda, have formally entered a not guilty plea in the graft case related to the alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan. The appearance was held at the Sandiganbayan, where the accused asserted their innocence of the allegations of irregularities in the project....
Meanwhile, another accused, Engr. Arjay Domasig, is set to be arraigned at a later date, along with others involved in the case, including the former lawmaker. A hearing is also set for a separate malversation case, while the court laid out a clear schedule for stipulation of facts, listing of witnesses, and marking of evidence as part of the process.
According to the Office of the Ombudsman, it is believed that there was a conspiracy to divert approximately P76 million in funds for a project that was declared completed but allegedly not executed. The public will continue to monitor the upcoming hearings, as the case strengthens the state's stance against corruption in infrastructure projects.
