Doctors Advise Marcos: “Slow Down” on Activities

Doctors have advised President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to slow down his activities, days after he was observed in the hospital due to acute abdominal discomfort.

According to Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, Marcos underwent observation at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday after experiencing stomach pain. Doctors recommended that the president reduce his activities and private meetings for a temporary rest.

“Private meetings here at the Palace. His condition is good and this is a way to follow the doctor's advice to rest,” Castro said. Despite the advice from doctors, Marcos still continued to hold some private meetings at Malacañang.

In a video released by the Presidential Communications Office, Marcos said that the acute abdominal pain is caused by diverticulitis, a condition in which the large intestine becomes irritated and causes abdominal pain. He allayed public fears, assuring that this was not a threat to his life, and advising his critics not to be too worried or excited.

Due to his condition, he missed two public activities: the awarding ceremony of The Outstanding Young Men 2025 on Thursday and the opening of the Laoag International Airport Passenger Terminal on Friday. He remained focused on private meetings while taking rest for his health.
