The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced the upcoming launch of eGov AI, an all-in-one government AI platform that will be available to all Filipinos for free through the eGov app.
The DICT described eGov AI as an intelligent assistant that will assist citizens in various government processes, including document submission, research, and coordination with various agencies. It also has multi-language support, translator, and image identification features.
According to Usec. David Almirol, the goal of eGov AI is to make government services simpler and more efficient. When a user submits a document through the platform, it no longer needs to be repeated with other agencies, which will speed up public transactions.
The system will also include a No Contact Apprehension Policy, where users will automatically receive traffic violation notifications. The app will also reportedly display actual video of violations, such as illegal U-turns or other traffic offenses.
Meanwhile, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) assured its support for the project and emphasized the importance of data privacy protection. They said they will continue to provide guidance to ensure that Filipinos' personal information is safe amid the wider use of AI in government.
