The Quezon City Traffic and Transport Management Department (QC-TTMD) has summoned a tricycle driver who went viral on social media after getting involved in a heated confrontation with a sedan driver on North Avenue. The incident quickly gained attention after a video went viral showing the tension between the two motorists.
According to QC-TTMD, the incident occurred in the middle of a temporary counterflow lane that was implemented due to ongoing construction in the area. Due to the narrow road and the simultaneous passage of vehicles, a misunderstanding allegedly occurred that led to unpleasant words being exchanged.
After reviewing the video, the agency immediately launched an investigation. During the hearing, the tricycle driver explained his side of the story, including his reaction when he was caught on video. However, officials stressed that emotional behavior on the road is never acceptable.
During the review process, several violations were identified, including driving on national roads with a tricycle ban, unauthorized routes, and use of expired or invalid licenses. As a result, the tricycle operator was also held liable for allowing such driving.
Finally, QC-TTMD once again called on the public to practice discipline, respect, and patience on the road. The agency reminded that proper driving behavior is important to avoid conflict and maintain everyone's safety, especially amid the worsening traffic in the city.
