Bong Revilla Surrenders to Authorities Over Ghost Project

Former Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. surrendered to authorities on Monday night after an arrest warrant was issued against him.

In a video statement, Revilla said he was notified of the warrant and expressed his concern over the apparent lack of due process.
“We received information that my arrest warrant has been issued. It is sad, it seems there is no due process,” Revilla said.

Despite this, the senator insisted that he will face the case fearlessly and reiterated his innocence.
“But even so, I will face it without fear. And I know that God will not abandon me because I am innocent of this,” he added.

According to reports, Revilla surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Camp Crame. The Sandiganbayan Third Division issued arrest warrants and hold departure orders against him and six officials of the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office. This is in connection with the alleged malversation in a ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Based on the statement of the prosecution, the accused allegedly planned to release P76 million for a flood control project worth P92.8 million. According to inspections and testimonies, the project was declared completed but was not implemented. It was also found that falsified accomplishment reports, fake billing documents, and disbursement vouchers were submitted.

Revilla, who was previously acquitted of plunder charges related to PDAF misuse, was implicated in the flood control project after former DPWH Usec. Roberto Bernardo alleged that he received kickbacks in exchange for endorsing the projects.
